La Hojas

The elements used to create the Hojas fireplace were part of a 150 year old apartment building on Mexico City’s longest and busiest street, Avenida Insurgentes Sur. Sadly, the building was partially demolished following the 1985 Mexico City earthquake. Quarry stone was used for the façade of the building, which is a very typical stone used in Mexico for construction. The Hojas columns were originally hand-carved, French-inspired corbels that decorated the building.
